Brunch Like a Local: What to Order at Buttermilk Ranch in Nashville

We didn’t plan to fall in love with croissants dunked in queso, but here we are. Buttermilk Ranch doesn’t just serve brunch—it delivers a memory.

It was barely 10 a.m. when we rolled up, and the place was already humming with the kind of energy that tells you you’re in the right spot. The line moved fast, the coffee smelled amazing, and we knew immediately we’d made the right call.

Brunch MVPs: What We Ate and Loved

We kicked things off with the Croissants & Queso, which honestly stole the show early. Flaky, golden pinwheels perfect for dragging through a pool of smoky bacon queso. It felt indulgent in all the right ways.

We couldn’t skip the Dirty South Fried Rice either. This bold bowl hit every note, jasmine rice stir-fried with a yolky egg, scallions, thick-cut bacon, and a perfect kick of chili crisp. Rich, spicy, comforting, and so satisfyingly different from the usual brunch lineup. We were obsessed.

Then came the Buttermilk Road Breakfast, a Southern staple done oh-so-right. Soft eggs, crispy ranch potatoes, and that house-made sausage? Perfection. We added a side of Porter Road butcher ham, and it might’ve been our favorite bite of the day—smoky, thick-cut, and full of flavor.

We couldn’t resist the Basket of Biscuits either. Laminated, buttery, and served with rotating house-made jams and butters, they made us question every other biscuit we’ve ever eaten.

The house-made breakfast sausage deserves its own applause—savory, juicy, and clearly crafted with care. Every element on the plate felt intentional and familiar, but better.

Why Buttermilk Ranch Works

This isn’t a place chasing brunch trends. No gimmicks, no over-the-top plating. Just thoughtful food with bold flavors and a whole lot of soul. The staff moves with grace under pressure, the vibe stays upbeat even when it’s packed, and the coffee is legit.

Tips for Visiting Buttermilk Ranch

  • Arrive early: It gets busy fast, especially on weekends.
  • Share dishes: You’ll want to try more than one thing.
  • Take pastries to go: Even if you’re full, grab a croissant for later.
  • Ask for seasonal specials: Their rotating menu items are worth exploring.

Velocity Wings Brunch Review: Crispy Wings, Pancake Surprises & Grits Done Right

When a spot known for its wings rolls out a full brunch menu, you go in with curiosity—and leave with a full belly. Velocity Wings surprised us in all the right ways. It’s casual, fast, and tasty, with a brunch lineup that covers everything from southern comfort to sweet tooth favorites.

What We Ordered

  • Buttermilk Biscuits – Fluffy, buttery, and a great start. Surprisingly well executed.
  • Caesar Salad – Classic and standard. Not a standout, but it did the job.
  • Mini Burgers – Solid bar food. Familiar and satisfying if not groundbreaking.
  • Chicken Wings – This was a surprise hit. Crispy, seasoned well, and true to their brand name.
  • Espresso Martini – Bold and rich with a solid kick. A great brunch cocktail.
  • Strawberry Lemon Drop – Bright and sweet, with just enough tartness to balance it out.
  • Stuffed French Toast – Sweet, decadent, and plated well. Great for sharing or dessert vibes.
  • Blueberry Lemon Pancakes – The unexpected star of the show. Light, fluffy, citrusy, and perfectly sweet.
  • Shrimp and Grits – Comfort food done right. Creamy grits and well-seasoned shrimp.
  • Catfish & Grits – Good seasoning on the fish, but the shrimp version edged it out for us.
  • Chicken and Waffles – Just okay. Needed a bit more flavor or a sauce boost.
  • Breakfast Tacos – A sleeper hit. Flavorful, balanced, and super satisfying.
  • Pepperoni Flatbread – Crispy, cheesy, and exactly what you want from a brunch flatbread.
  • Shrimp Alfredo – Creamy and comforting, though more of a lunch vibe than brunch.

Final Thoughts

Velocity Wings isn’t trying to be fancy—and that’s exactly why it works. The portions were generous, the flavors were bold, and the standout items (like those pancakes and wings) made the whole experience feel like a win. The drinks were legit, and the menu has enough variety to keep everyone happy—from your biscuit-loving brunchers to your wing-and-beer crew.

Looking for a relaxed, satisfying brunch spot? Velocity Wings might surprise you—in the best way.

During our recent stay at Oceans Casino in Atlantic City, we had the pleasure of dining at Linguini’s, a restaurant that masterfully blends classic Italian flavors with a touch of modern elegance. Our experience at Linguini’s was more than just a meal; it was a culinary journey filled with delicious food, great drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere that made the evening unforgettable.

An Inviting Atmosphere

Walking into Linguini’s, we were immediately struck by its warm, inviting ambiance. The restaurant’s soft lighting, cozy decor, and attentive staff set the perfect stage for a memorable dining experience. Whether you’re seated by the window with a view of the bustling casino or tucked into a quiet corner, Linguini’s makes you feel like a cherished guest.

Appetizers That Set the Tone

We started our meal with a selection of appetizers that perfectly showcased Linguini’s dedication to quality and flavor. The Caesar Salad was a refreshing start, with crisp hearts of romaine, focaccia croutons, and a creamy Caesar dressing that struck just the right balance. The Chilled Shrimp were plump and juicy, served with a zesty cocktail sauce that added a delightful kick.

The Blue Point Oysters, accompanied by a flavorful mignonette, were a highlight, offering a taste of the ocean that was both fresh and briny. We also enjoyed the House-Made Meatballs, which were tender and flavorful, served in a rich pomodoro sauce with a dollop of creamy ricotta on top—a comforting and satisfying dish that set the tone for the rest of the evening.

Main Courses Worth Savoring

For the main course, we indulged in a variety of dishes that highlighted Linguini’s range of offerings. The Steak and Lobster was an absolute standout, combining the rich, buttery flavor of lobster with a perfectly cooked steak that was tender and juicy. The addition of a side of garlic-infused mashed potatoes made this dish a true indulgence.

Another highlight was the Bucatini alla Carbonara, featuring bucatini pasta coated in a luscious sauce of pecorino, pancetta, cipollini onion, and a perfectly runny egg yolk. This dish was a perfect blend of creamy and savory, with just the right amount of black pepper to give it a subtle kick.

The Berkshire Pork Chop, seared porchetta-style and served with roasted long hots and a rich pork jus, was another winner. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked to a tender finish, making each bite a delight. The Chicken Parmigiana was classic comfort food at its best—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and smothered in pomodoro sauce, mozzarella, and parmigiano.

Delightful Drinks and Desserts

To complement our meal, we enjoyed a variety of expertly crafted cocktails. The Smoked Old Fashioned was a perfect start, with its smoky aroma and smooth bourbon flavor. The Venetian Margarita, with its blend of Don Julio Reposado, orange, pineapple, and prosecco, was refreshing and perfectly balanced.

For dessert, we couldn’t resist the Espresso Martini, which was a delightful blend of coffee and spirits, offering a sweet yet bold finish to our meal. Paired with a second Smoked Old Fashioned, it was the perfect way to end the evening on a high note.

Why Linguini’s is a Must-Visit

Linguini’s in Oceans Casino offers an exceptional dining experience that goes beyond just great food. From the inviting atmosphere and attentive service to the expertly prepared dishes, every aspect of our dinner felt thoughtfully crafted to provide a true taste of Italy. Whether you’re craving a hearty pasta, a perfectly cooked steak, or simply looking to enjoy a great cocktail, Linguini’s delivers on all fronts.

For anyone visiting Atlantic City, especially those staying at Oceans Casino, Linguini’s is a dining destination not to be missed. It’s a place where the flavors of Italy meet the excitement of Atlantic City, creating a dining experience that’s both memorable and delicious.

Today for lunch, we decided to dive into the rich flavors of Cajun cuisine at Voodoo Brothers in Old Town Manassas. Known for bringing a taste of New Orleans to Virginia, Voodoo Brothers promised a feast of bold and spicy dishes.

We started our meal with a selection of their signature dishes: Jim’s Jambalaya, Red Beans & Rice, Chicken & Andouille Gumbo, and Spicy Chicken Wings. To complement our meal, we ordered a classic Hurricane and a Jack on the Rocks.

The standout dish of the day was undoubtedly the Chicken & Andouille Gumbo. This dish was everything a gumbo should be—rich, hearty, and full of deep, savory flavors. It had just the right amount of spice, and the combination of chicken and andouille sausage was a true delight.

As for the Hurricane, it was the perfect drink to accompany our meal. Made with all fresh fruit juice, this cocktail was a great mix of boozy and refreshing, bringing a bit of that New Orleans vibe to our table.

The other dishes we tried—Jim’s Jambalaya, Red Beans & Rice, and Garlic Chili Shrimp—were all close to hitting the mark. They each had moments of greatness but seemed to be missing just a touch of the boldness and depth of flavor that we were expecting. Perhaps it was just our taste buds on this particular day, so we encourage you to give them a try and see for yourself!

Overall, Voodoo Brothers offers a solid take on Cajun cuisine, and we look forward to returning to try more of their menu. If you’re in Old Town Manassas and craving some Cajun comfort food, Voodoo Brothers is definitely worth a visit.

Last evening, we had the pleasure of dining at North Italia in Reston, Virginia, and what a delightful experience it was! Known for its modern Italian fare, North Italia did not disappoint, serving up a memorable meal that left us eager to return.

We began our culinary journey with two appetizers that set the tone for the evening: Wild Shrimp Scampi and White Truffle Garlic Bread. The shrimp scampi was bursting with flavor, perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. The garlic bread, infused with the rich aroma of truffle, was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and absolutely irresistible. Both dishes were a wonderful start to our evening, tantalizing our taste buds and leaving us excited for what was to come.

Our drink choices for the evening were kept simple but elegant—a Makers Mark Old Fashioned and a Julietta. The Old Fashioned was a classic done right, with the warm, smooth notes of bourbon complementing the subtle sweetness of the bitters. The Julietta, with its blend of floral and citrus notes, was the perfect counterpart, light and refreshing. Both drinks paired wonderfully with our appetizers, enhancing the overall dining experience.

But the true stars of the evening were the main courses: Chicken Pesto and Chicken Parmesan. These dishes were nothing short of spectacular. The Chicken Pesto featured tender, juicy chicken paired with perfectly al dente pasta, all smothered in a vibrant, flavorful pesto sauce that tied the dish together beautifully. The Chicken Parmesan was equally impressive, with the chicken perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The combination of aged provolone, mozzarella, and parmesan rigatoni made every bite a rich, indulgent delight.

From start to finish, our experience at North Italia was exceptional. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was attentive, and the food was simply outstanding. Whether you’re in the mood for classic Italian dishes or something a bit more modern, North Italia in Reston is a must-visit. We can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu!

As someone who usually steers clear of chain restaurants, I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into Passion Fin in Gainesville, VA. Often, it’s the independent spots that steal the show, but Passion Fin has made a name for itself, and rightfully so. Listed as the Best Sushi in Gainesville, this place offers more than just a meal—it’s a sushi experience worth savoring.

From the moment we sat down, the ambiance hinted at something special. The sleek, modern decor paired with the friendly, attentive service set the stage for what would be an impressive dining experience.

But let’s get to the star of the show—the sushi. We kicked things off with a spread that included crispy tempura rolls that had the perfect crunch, a creamy and satisfying tuna roll, and of course, a few pieces of fresh tuna sashimi that were simply melt-in-your-mouth good. The sushi here doesn’t just rely on being fresh; it’s crafted with precision, balancing flavors and textures beautifully.

The presentation? Spot-on. The rolls arrived on a sleek white plate, meticulously arranged with a vibrant pop of green wasabi and the gentle pink of pickled ginger, making it almost too pretty to eat—almost.

What really stood out to me was how Passion Fin managed to deliver such quality and consistency, something you don’t always find with chain restaurants. They’ve got the formula right—top-notch ingredients, skillful preparation, and a welcoming environment.

So, if you find yourself in Gainesville and are craving sushi, give Passion Fin a shot. Whether you’re a sushi aficionado or just in the mood for something tasty, this spot deserves a visit. Trust me, this isn’t your typical chain restaurant sushi—it’s a delightful surprise that just might become your go-to spot in town.
